Generalized cross-resonance scheme for maximally entangling two-qutrit gates

The cross-resonance scheme is extended to multilevel quantum systems, enabling direct entangling operations on the 1–2 levels of fixed-frequency transmon qutrits. Numerical simulations demonstrate parametric gates that span the complete two-qutrit Hilbert space and prepare high-fidelity Bell state.

Many-body quantum optics in a Bose-Hubbard waveguide

How do quantum emitters behave when coupled to a Bose-Hubbard waveguide populated by repulsively interacting photons? This work shows that photon-photon interactions can trigger a superradiant burst at fixed emitter spacing and frequency, while coherent emitter interactions persist over long distances in the superfluid regime but become short-ranged in the Mott regime.

TlYbSe2 is a triangular-lattice frustrated magnet that exhibits no long-range order down to 30 mK, indicating a ground state that could be a quantum spin liquid. Heat capacity shows a peculiar linear trend that can be reconciled with theory based on U(1) gauge flux excitations interacting with emergent fermions, providing compelling evidence for a U(1) quantum spin liquid state.
