Modeling parity-violating spectra in Galactic dust polarization with filaments and its applications to cosmic birefringence searches

Carlos Hervías-Caimapo, Ari J. Cukierman, Patricia Diego-Palazuelos, Kevin M. Huffenberger, and Susan E. Clark

Phys. Rev. D 111, 083532 (2025) - Published 15 April, 2025

The detection of rotation of linearly polarized cosmic microwave background photons, which is called cosmic birefringence, may suggest new parity-violating physics. However, scattering by dust can also mimic this same effect. In this paper, the authors extends a pre-existing dust filament model to compute this effect to make a forecast for future CMB experiments and assess the effect of this dust on present isotropic measurements of cosmic birefringence.

Implications of the cosmic calibration tension beyond H0 and the synergy between early- and late-time new physics

Vivian Poulin, Tristan L. Smith, Rodrigo Calderón, and Théo Simon

Phys. Rev. D 111, 083552 (2025) - Published 29 April, 2025

The cosmic calibration tension is a statistically significant mismatch between the BAO and SN1a distance ladders, possibly indicating deviations from the ΛCDM framework. Resolving the tension demands new physics and a broader approach — either focused on a targeted modification of the pre-recombination expansion history, or to a wider change affecting multiple cosmic epochs.

Effective-one-body model for coalescing binary neutron stars: Incorporating tidal spin and enhanced radiation from dynamical tides

Hang Yu and Shu Yan Lau

Phys. Rev. D 111, 084029 (2025) - Published 14 April, 2025

In the late inspiral phase of compact binary coalescences involving neutron stars, tidal effects become increasingly important. Hang Yu and Shu Yan Lau model this system taking into consideration the tidal spin, the part of the spin that evolves in time due to tidal torquing, and its back reaction on the inspiral orbit. The rich picture developed could account for discrepancies between earlier models and numerical relativistic studies of these systems.

Applications of the Landau bootstrap

Holmfridur S. Hannesdottir, Andrew J. McLeod, Matthew D. Schwartz, and Cristian Vergu

Phys. Rev. D 111, 085003 (2025) - Published 2 April, 2025

The authors show that the familiar Landau analysis, of the singularity structure of Feynman diagrams, can be greatly extended using a bootstrap method. This may allow diagrams to be computed solely from their singularities.

Candidate de Sitter vacua

Liam McAllister, Jakob Moritz, Richard Nally, and Andreas Schachner

Phys. Rev. D 111, 086015 (2025) - Published 11 April, 2025

The simplest real world cosmology is realized by de Sitter spacetime. One framework to study the quantization of gravity and to grapple with the cosmological constant problem is to analyze de Sitter vacua of string theory. In this paper, the authors construct flux compactifications of type IIB string theory, which can lead to de Sitter minima at leading order in α and gs expansions. They found five promising de Sitter vacua candidates.

Phys.

Phys.
