Constraining local non-Gaussianities with kinetic Sunyaev-Zel’dovich tomography

Moritz Münchmeyer, Mathew S. Madhavacheril, Simone Ferraro, Matthew C. Johnson, and Kendrick M. Smith

Phys. Rev. D 100, 083508 (2019) - Published 7 October, 2019

The authors use the reconstruction of the radial velocity field of matter in the Universe to determine constraints on primordial non-Gaussianities. By cross-correlating future high-resolution CMB and galaxy surveys, the sensitivity for the radial velocity field measurement and thus the constraint on non-Gaussianties can be improved by a factor of three.

Conformally soft theorem in gauge theory

Monica Pate, Ana-Maria Raclariu, and Andrew Strominger

Phys. Rev. D 100, 085017 (2019) - Published 24 October, 2019

Four-dimensional Minkowskian scattering amplitudes can also be presented in a basis of a different group (SL(2,C)), which acts as the conformal group on the celestial two-sphere at null infinity. This type of representation is useful for understanding the flat-space holography. The authors propose a procedure for taking the (conformally) soft limit of tree-level scattering amplitudes in this basis.

End point of nonaxisymmetric black hole instabilities in higher dimensions

Hans Bantilan, Pau Figueras, Markus Kunesch, and Rodrigo Panosso Macedo

Phys. Rev. D 100, 086014 (2019) - Published 21 October, 2019

The authors provide a thorough discussion of the non-linear and non-axisymmetric stability of higher-dimensional rotating black holes. They find that depending on dimension, mass, and initial spin the black holes are either stable, form a naked singularity, or settle to the same particular stable member of the family, radiating away more than 30% of its mass through gravitational waves; curiously there is no obvious physical reason that distinguishes that specific stable member.
