Dr. Max Bonomi is a Research Director at the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) and head of the Computational Structural Biology Laboratory at Institut Pasteur in Paris, France. His lab develops integrative approaches that combine biomolecular simulations, artificial intelligence, and experimental data to investigate the physico-chemical principles underlying biological functions.

The American Physical Society has received the leading score among publishers participating in the Sponsoring Consortium for Open Access Publishing in Particle Physics (SCOAP³) in the first evaluation of open science practices in scholarly publishing. Christoph Weber is a Professor at the University of Augsburg, where he leads the Research Group on the Mesoscopic Physics of Life. With a strong background in theoretical physics, his work focuses on understanding the mechanisms underlying living systems. Starting in November 2024, Professor Weber will manage manuscripts related to intracellular organization, biomolecular condensates, and the origin of life. We are excited to welcome him to our team and look forward to his contributions.

The Physical Review journals would like to congratulate John J. Hopfield of Princeton University and Geoffrey E. Hinton of the University of Toronto for sharing the 2024 Nobel Prize in Physics. The prize was awarded for “foundational discoveries and inventions that enable machine learning with artificial neural networks.”

Ananya specializes in biophysics and polymer physics, with a focus on machine learning-based predictions of large proteins. She will oversee manuscripts related to biophysics, particularly on biopolymers, active systems, molecular simulations, machine learning and structural biology. Beyond her scientific interests, Ananya is passionate about promoting diversity in physics through mentorship and outreach initiatives.

The policy requires authors to explain where research data can be found starting Sept. 4.

For his contribution to cellular biophysics, and specifically for his pioneering work identifying how membrane-less organelles assemble through liquid-liquid phase separation to form condensed droplets inside cells, PRX Life Editorial Board Member Clifford P. The International Union of Pure and Applied Physics (IUPAP) awarded the 2023 IUPAP Medal for the Physics of Life to Prof. Frank Jülicher, who made key contributions to the birth and development of the field of biological active matter physics.
