Measurements of the Higgs boson width and anomalous HVV couplings from on-shell and off-shell production in the four-lepton final state

A. M. Sirunyan et al. (CMS Collaboration)

Phys. Rev. D 99, 112003 (2019) - Published 11 June, 2019

The CMS Collaboration presents the to-date most precise measurement of the Higgs boson width and coupling to two vector bosons. The latter is found to be consistent with standard model expectations.

Making dark matter out of light: Freeze-in from plasma effects

Cora Dvorkin, Tongyan Lin, and Katelin Schutz

Phys. Rev. D 99, 115009 (2019) - Published 11 June, 2019

Dark matter (DM) could couple to Standard Model (SM) particles through a light mediator and this could be responsible for the observed DM abundances through freezein. Here, the authors identify an additional production channel through the decay of photons that have acquired an in-medium plasma mass. They contribute to the relic abundance, lowering by an order of magnitude the target cross-section for the lowest dark matter masses.

Hydrodynamic attractor and the fate of perturbative expansions in Gubser flow

Gabriel S. Denicol and Jorge Noronha

Phys. Rev. D 99, 116004 (2019) - Published 10 June, 2019

This paper investigates systems far from equilibrium, which exhibit hydrodynamic behavior. The authors compare the usefulness of different approximation schemes, namely the gradient expansion and the “slow roll” approximation, when applied to Gubser" flow, which is more physical thanBjorken” flow but is still mathematically tractable. The large order behavior of these perturbations is determined for the first time.

Dynamical systems and nonlinear transient rheology of the far-from-equilibrium Bjorken flow

Alireza Behtash, Syo Kamata, Mauricio Martinez, and Haosheng Shi

Phys. Rev. D 99, 116012 (2019) - Published 14 June, 2019

The authors investigate the nonlinear dynamics of a far-from-equilibrium weakly coupled plasma undergoing a certain hydrodynamic expansion – Bjorken expansion. By using an asymptotic perturbative power series of the one-particle distribution function, they develop a new non-perturbative dynamical renormalization scheme that goes beyond the linear response theory. As a result, this provides a new description for the transport coefficients in regimes far from equilibrium.
