The holographic supersymmetric Casimir energy

Pietro Benetti Genolini, Davide Cassani, Dario Martelli, and James Sparks

Phys. Rev. D 95, 021902(R) (2017) - Published 10 January, 2017

The Casimir effect is a measure of the vacuum energy of a quantum field theory. For a certain class of supersymmetric superconformal field theories in four dimensions, the authors compute the holographic Casimir energy using gravity solutions, and show that it matches the field theory calculations, which is in accord to the AdS/CFT correspondence.

General constraints on dark matter decay from the cosmic microwave background

Tracy R. Slatyer and Chih-Liang Wu

Phys. Rev. D 95, 023010 (2017) - Published 30 January, 2017

Are there ways to set model-independent bounds on decaying dark matter via signatures in the Cosmic Microwave Background? The authors propose a method which achieves this goal for a large class of dark matter scenarios.

Fine-tuning challenges for the matter bounce scenario

Aaron M. Levy

Phys. Rev. D 95, 023522 (2017) - Published 30 January, 2017

The author points out fine-tuning issues in bouncing cosmologies, which are seemingly unavoidable for a nearly scale-invariant spectrum as observed in the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB). To suppress destabilizing anisotropies in the contracting phase, an exponential fine-tuned “ekpyrosis” (the anisotropy suppressing phase) and a coupling of the corresponding degrees of freedom to those of the subsequent matter-like contracting phase is necessary.

Global simulations of Minkowski spacetime including spacelike infinity

Georgios Doulis and Jörg Frauendiener

Phys. Rev. D 95, 024035 (2017) - Published 30 January, 2017

This paper deals, both analytically and numerically, with the problem of taking into account the spatial infinity during the evolution of linearized gravitational field from past to future null infinity. Generalized conformal field equations linearized about a Minkowski background are used.
