Deep inelastic scattering (DIS) experiments can be used to determine the quark distributions of the nucleons. The authors calculate certain heavy quark contributions to the deep-inelastic scattering structure function at -loop order in QCD. While such contributions are tiny, they may become relevant for the comparison with data from future DIS experiments.

Numerical simulations of cold, dense quark matter are possible for two color QCD. The authors show how effective, Nambu Jona-Lasino type models must be modified, by the inclusion of additional four-fermion interactions, in order to match the lattice results.
