Point proposal network for reconstructing 3D particle endpoints with subpixel precision in liquid argon time projection chambers

Laura Dominé, Pierre Côte de Soux, François Drielsma, Dae Heun Koh, Ran Itay, Qing Lin, Kazuhiro Terao, Ka Vang Tsang, and Tracy L. Usher (on behalf of the DeepLearnPhysics Collaboration)

Phys. Rev. D 104, 032004 (2021) - Published 18 August, 2021

Liquid Argon Time Projection Chambers are used as precision detectors in ongoing and upcoming neutrino experiments. In this paper the authors adapt machine learning techniques to better identify the beginning- and end-points of particle tracks in LarTPCs, offering significant improvement over traditional methods in reconstructing the true event.

Collider signals of baryogenesis and dark matter from B mesons: A roadmap to discovery

Gonzalo Alonso-Álvarez, Gilly Elor, and Miguel Escudero

Phys. Rev. D 104, 035028 (2021) - Published 27 August, 2021

B-mesogenesis is an elegant theory that could explain both the excess of matter over anti-matter in the universe and the abundance of dark matter via B meson decays to a baryon and a dark anti-baryon. A thorough analysis of the necessary ingredients to such models now shows that they can be definitively tested at current B factories and the LHC, offering the potential to gain insights into key aspects of cosmology using flavor physics.

Positive moments for scattering amplitudes

Brando Bellazzini, Joan Elias Miró, Riccardo Rattazzi, Marc Riembau, and Francesco Riva

Phys. Rev. D 104, 036006 (2021) - Published 16 August, 2021

The authors study the consequence of unitarity, causality and crossing on the forward 2>2 scattering amplitudes in quantum field theories. Out of an infinite set of energy dependent quantities, they identify an optimal finite subset of constraints, suitable to bound effective field theories at any finite order in the energy expansion. The study may help determine the acceptable range of validity of effective field theories in both couplings and energy.
