Patterns produced by a model for the development of neural circuitry in the mammalian visual cortex. Neurons in the cortex surface map retinal positions (mesh) and angles (colors) of objects in the visual field. The model maps are coupled by symmetries intrinsic to their development and show agreement with observations that suggest a correlation between the two maps.
