2D section of the wave function for a proton-deuteron pair in a polarized laser field from a numerical solution of the Schrödinger equation. For certain combinations of linear and circular polarization, two same-sign charges can form a metastable "molecule" such as the HD2+ shown. The phase is indicated by the colors; the jets illustrate the decay of this state.
