On the Cover

First results from the KamLAND neutrino-oscillation experiment measuring the ν̅_e flux from distant nuclear reactors. When combined with data from earlier reactor experiments, the KamLAND result gives the first direct evidence for the disappearance in flight of ν̅_e's and supports the "large mixing angle" solution to the solar neutrino problem.
