Abstract
In a recent Letter [Phys. Rev. Lett. 116, 138302 (2016)] Würger calculated the thermophoretic velocity of a colloidal sphere towards a solid boundary due to an imposed temperature gradient perpendicular to that wall in the limit where the particle-wall separation distance is small compared to the particle radius . Würger obtained the approximation for the particle velocity towards the wall, being the corresponding velocity in the bulk. In deriving that approximation an ad hoc procedure was employed to circumvent the calculation of a diverging integral that emerges in the course of a lubrication analysis. We show here how to systematically address this problem, obtaining the approximation .
