Precision measurement of the Λc+, Ξc+, and Ξc0 baryon lifetimes

The LHCb collaboration reports measurements of three charmed baryon lifetimes using 7 and 8 TeV data. These results significantly improve on the precision of existing world averages. The new Ξc0 lifetime is found to be somewhat higher than previous estimates.

The authors test the predictive power of conformal perturbation in the neighborhood of the finite temperature critical point of SU(2) Yang-Mills theory, assuming that it is in the 3D Ising model universality class. Comparison with lattice data confirm that the predictions are accurate in a broad range of temperatures around Tc.

The leading electromagnetic and strong isospin-breaking corrections to the decay rates of light pseudoscalar mesons are computed for the first time in a lattice QCD simulation. Combining with experimentally measured decay rates, the authors obtain the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element |Vus|=0.22538(46), the most precise value, so far.
