Rotating neutron stars with nonbarotropic thermal profile

Giovanni Camelio, Tim Dietrich, Miguel Marques, and Stephan Rosswog

Phys. Rev. D 100, 123001 (2019) - Published 2 December, 2019

In this paper, the authors present a novel formalism for constructing models of nonbarotropic rotating relativistic stars, which will allow for efficient study of binary neutron star merger remnants.

Threshold for primordial black holes: Dependence on the shape of the cosmological perturbations

Ilia Musco

Phys. Rev. D 100, 123524 (2019) - Published 16 December, 2019

In this work, the author uses a previously developed numerical technique to formulate and investigate a well defined criterion for measuring general perturbation amplitudes for the collapse of primordial black holes, enabling a consistent derivation of how the threshold of primordial black hole formation depends on the shape of the initial density perturbation.

Separate universe void bias

Drew Jamieson and Marilena Loverde

Phys. Rev. D 100, 123528 (2019) - Published 18 December, 2019

In this paper, the authors address the challenging problem of measuring void bias, by using separate universe simulations, which not only yields the same results as obtained from the standard clustering approach but also has the potential of more precise measurements for the same volume.

Duality invariant cosmology to all orders in α

Olaf Hohm and Barton Zwiebach

Phys. Rev. D 100, 126011 (2019) - Published 10 December, 2019

In the context of string theory, the authors consider purely time-dependent cosmological backgrounds and compute corrections to the action to all orders in α’ (string length). The resulting equations of motion can be integrated perturbatively to any order in α’, which allows the authors to find non-perturbative de Sitter vacua. Even though the models considered are not phenomenologically viable, this is a remarkable result.

Out-of-equilibrium chiral magnetic effect and momentum relaxation in holography

Jorge Fernández-Pendás and Karl Landsteiner

Phys. Rev. D 100, 126024 (2019) - Published 30 December, 2019

The authors study the chiral magnetic effect in out of equilibrium situations in a holographic setup describing a far from equilibrium evolution. They find that the anomaly induced response shows a late equilibration and suggest that this could be a universal feature of anomalous transport, which could provide an important lesson for observations in heavy ion collisions.
