Abstract

We show that all Lagrangian functions of scalar fields yielding conformally invariant actions may be expressed in covariant derivative notation. We study the nonlinear pion Lagrangian and break both the chiral and conformal symmetry with partial conservation of axial-vector current. If we require smoothness of the σππ amplitude, we find that the axial-vector current divergence and the pion field have unit scale dimension.
