Hard-Meson Calculation of Kπ Scattering

Abstract

The hard-meson SU(3)×SU(3) current-algebra four-point functions are applied to Kπ scattering, using pole dominance of the σ commutators. The S- and P-wave scattering lengths and effective ranges are extracted. The hard-meson S-wave scattering lengths differ from the soft-pion Weinberg scattering lengths by only a few percent. Energy-dependent fits up to 1 GeV and above are made. All the available experimental data on the elastic and charge-exchange cross sections and phase shifts can be fitted using the parameter FKFπ.
