Anomalous Ward Identities and -Meson Decays

Abstract
The strong decay and the photopion reaction are discussed using the hard-pion current-algebra technique. We use the anomalous Ward identities for three- and four-point functions to determine the structure of the contact term, but we are not able to determine it completely. Both the and the amplitude are then expressed in terms of three parameters , (which characterizes the contact term), and (the parameter which appears in the system). We determine from a fit to the experimental decay width and use this value of to determine the width and the ratio for the various values of , ignoring the contact term. Next we estimate by using the experimental decay width for and use the resulting amplitude to estimate . We also estimate the effect of anomalous Ward identities on the form factor and obtain the value of for and .
