Abstract

A simple derivation of Weinberg's result on the chiral-symmetric coupling of soft pions to a high-energy process is presented. His formal for soft-virtual-pion corrections is shown to be not invariant under canonical transformation of the pion field. Thus this formula is model dependent and not a consequence of chiral symmetry.
