The authors report results for scattering in higher partial waves based on chiral perturbation theory to 5th order in the expansion. As the first such calculation to this order, the work sets a new standard for the derivation of the interaction in chiral perturbation theory. The results are not very sensitive to the single cut-off parameter.

Covariant spectator theory of scattering: Deuteron quadrupole moment
Franz Gross
Phys. Rev. C 91, 014005 (2015) - Published 26 January, 2015
Until recently, theoretical calculations constrained by precise neutron-proton scattering data have predicted a deuteron quadrupole moment that is too small. In this paper, the quadrupole moment is calculated using the covariant spectator theory with an interaction based on meson exchanges. A detailed analysis of all the relativistic contributions demonstrates that this approach can explain the deuteron quadrupole moment very well.
