A. R. Fritsch, Mingwu Lu, G. H. Reid, A. M. Piñeiro, and I. B. Spielman

Phys. Rev. A 101, 053629 (2020) - Published 20 May, 2020

Monopole field textures in interacting spin systems

Andreas Eriksson and Erik Sjöqvist

Phys. Rev. A 101, 050101(R) (2020) - Published 29 May, 2020

A toy model is developed to demonstrate how magnetic monopole structures can be created in spin composites exposed to slowly varying external magnetic fields. The monopoles can appear at points in parameter space where the external magnetic field is nonzero, in sharp contrast to the more well-known pure Zeeman case.

The excitation spectrum of a one-dimensional two-component bosonic mixture of ultracold atoms is studied by an extension of the Gross-Pitaevskii equation approach. The results can help distinguish the self-bound droplet state from the bright soliton.

Atomic test of higher-order interference

Kai Sheng Lee, Zhao Zhuo, Christophe Couteau, David Wilkowski, and Tomasz Paterek

Phys. Rev. A 101, 052111 (2020) - Published 18 May, 2020

Quantum mechanics predicts that interference arising from multiple slits can be reduced to a sum of outcomes from the simpler one- and two-slit counterparts. Testing deviations from these results has been discussed as testing the validity of Born’s rule. Here an experiment that considers the evolution between three levels of an atom as the quantum paths is devised, providing precision tools that can be used to test universality of Born’s and to constrain theories designed to supersede quantum mechanics.

Generalized ansatz for continuous matrix product states

Phys. Rev. A 101, 052312 (2020) - Published 7 May, 2020

A generalized ansatz of continuous matrix product states (MPS) that is capable of expressing the continuum limit of any MPS is presented. The ansatz can be understood as the enforcement of a kind of superselection rule.
