Conny Aerts is a Full Professor at the Institute of Astronomy, KU Leuven and received her Ph.D. from KU Leuven in 1993. She leads the Chair in Asteroseismology at the Radboud University Nijmegen and is External Scientific Member of the Max Planck Society. Her research covers stellar astrophysics, including stellar structure and evolution and variable stars. She is also a pioneer of asteroseismology. She developed rigorous mathematical methods to detect and identify non-radial stellar oscillations in high-resolution time-series spectroscopy. Conny is the recipient of numerous awards and prizes, including an ERC Advanced Grant in 2008, the 2012 Francqui Prize (‘Belgian Nobel Prize’) and the FWO Excellence Prize (‘Flemish Nobel Prize’) in 2020. She is also the 2022 recipient of the Kavli Prize in Astrophysics and acts as corresponding Principle Investigator of the 2022 ERC Synergy Grant - 4D-STAR.
