Many of the most exciting developments in physics are currently taking place at the boundaries between subfields and across traditional topical areas, but authors are often at a loss to determine the right journal in which to publish their results. The Physical Review journals that cover the traditional subfields of physics may not be the right fit, or may not reach their full target audience. As an additional challenge, fully explaining such work may necessitate bringing readers with expertise in different subfields up to speed in less familiar areas. This requires space that is not available in Physical Review Letters.
Physical Review X (PRX) has the right DNA to address this need, with enough space to broadly frame contributions that identify or create fruitful connections between traditional areas, combined with the strict selection standards, personalized editorial process and high visibility that are the hallmarks of the journal. While PRX will continue to welcome important breakthroughs that bring new insight or represent paradigm shifts in one of the core areas of physics, we want to particularly encourage the submission of the highest quality results that reach across subfields. Our goal is to make PRX your journal of choice to publish your best cross-field work in a format accessible to a broad readership.
