Numerical simulation of the phase-separation process for a mixture of an isotropic liquid (black areas) and a liquid crystal (colored areas, with the colors illustrating the direction of the nematic orientational field). Although the two phases occupy the same volume, the liquid-crystal phase forms into isolated droplets, breaking the morphological symmetry.
