"Distribution of the average interaction strength of the outermost protons and neutrons, δ Vpn, plotted against proton number (vertical) and neutron number (horizontal). Quadrants are defined by the Z=82 proton and N=126 neutron shell closures. The result for 210Pb is the first experimentally obtained δ Vpn in the lower right quadrant.
