Soft Librational Mode Detection Via Nuclear Quadrupole Resonance

Abstract
The temperature variation of pure nuclear quadrupole resonance frequencies provides a new tool for the detection of soft librational modes in spectrographically inaccessible regions. Data taken on Re above its 110.9°K phase transition are presented and are shown to imply a marked temperature dependence of the frequency of the rotary mode.
