Andreas (Andy) Acrivos passed away on February 17, 2025. A giant in the field of fluid mechanics, Acrivos leaves a singular technical legacy, an extensive academic lineage, and a distinguished impact in the fluid mechanics community. His leadership was broad, but we specifically recognize his many years of service as Editor-in-Chief of Physics of Fluids. His technical rigor and vision arguably provided the strength in technical publishing that ultimately gave rise to Physical Review Fluids, an APS-affiliated journal. The DFD honors his legacy via the Andreas Acrivos Dissertation Award in Fluid Dynamics from APS. Acrivos was a Fellow of the APS, a member of the National Academies of Science and of Engineering and a recipient of the National Medal of Science. We mark the passing of our colleague with gratitude for his many contributions to our community.
