The authors construct perturbative solutions in a cubic scalar field theory which can be mapped to classical solutions in gauge theories using the same “double copy” correspondence that connects gauge theory amplitudes to gravity amplitudes. This provides the first step (leading order in perturbation theory) for a correspondence between gravity and a scalar field theory with much simpler Feynman rules.

The authors construct perturbative solutions in a cubic scalar field theory which can be mapped to classical solutions in gauge theories using the same “double copy” correspondence that connects gauge theory amplitudes to gravity amplitudes. This provides the first step (leading order in perturbation theory) for a correspondence between gravity and a scalar field theory with much simpler Feynman rules.
