The Daya Bay collaboration, with all eight of its anti-neutrino detectors functioning, returns to measuring the neutrino mixing angle through hydrogen capture of neutrons produced in inverse-beta decay. The new measurement improves significantly on the uncertainty in the value of measured using this method.

The excess recently reported by the ATLAS and CMS collaborations in the diphoton channel, if confirmed, is argued to require beyond standard model physics for an explanation. Four possible scenarios and some of their consequences are explored.
