General coordinate invariance in quantum many-body systems

Tomáš Brauner, Solomon Endlich, Alexander Monin, and Riccardo Penco

Phys. Rev. D 90, 105016 (2014) - Published 12 November, 2014

General coordinate invariance is a framework that merely allows for choosing spacetime coordinates at will, while the innate physical symmetries of a theory can be implemented as “internal” symmetries within the vielbein formalism. The authors extend this idea to many-body theories, showing that Galilean or Poincare symmetry is not necessary.

Integrable Gross-Neveu models with fermion-fermion and fermion-antifermion pairing

Michael Thies

Phys. Rev. D 90, 105017 (2014) - Published 12 November, 2014

By altering the integrable Gross-Neveu model, the author finds several new integrable quantum field theories in 1+1 dimensions. When the number of fields is large, Cooper pairing is found, which makes these theories exactly solvable toy models for color superconductivity in quantum chromodynamics.

BPS degeneracies and superconformal index in diverse dimensions

Amer Iqbal and Cumrun Vafa

Phys. Rev. D 90, 105031 (2014) - Published 26 November, 2014

The authors show that many three and five-dimensional superconformal theories can be classified by the spectrum of massive supersymmetric (BPS) states that arise in consistent deformations of those theories. To demonstrate this the authors compute the full superconformal index in the original theories by means of counting the BPS states in the deformed ones.

General coordinate invariance is a framework that merely allows for choosing spacetime coordinates at will, while the innate physical symmetries of a theory can be implemented as “internal” symmetries within the vielbein formalism. Phys.
