Abstract

We present a measurement of the W-boson mass, MW, using data corresponding to 2.2fb1 of integrated luminosity collected in pp¯ collisions at s=1.96TeV with the CDF II detector at the Fermilab Tevatron. The selected sample of 470 126 Weν candidates and 624 708 Wμν candidates yields the measurement MW=80387±12(stat)±15(syst)=80387±19MeV/c2. This is the most precise single measurement of the W-boson mass to date.

  53. Since the best-fit value of g2 depends on the values of other parameters and PDFs used in the fitting model, we do not quote a measurement of g2. As a consistency check, we compare our best-fit value of gCDF=(0.649±0.013stat)GeV with the global-fit value of g2=0.68±0.01, and we find consistency considering that different PDFs yield an uncertainty on g2 of O(0.02).
