Abstract

We discuss the question of generating the singularity structure of the vacuum expectation value of the commutator of two electromagnetic currents as given by operator-product expansions, from the Källén-Lehmann representation. It is shown that this is possible provided the formally divergent integrals involving the spectral function are interpreted suitably. An example is discussed in detail.
