Abstract

We have accumulated a sample of ∼ 400 η(958) decays in the modes (1) ηπ+πγ and (2) ηπ+πηN0 (N=neutraldecay) from a 15.4-eV/μb study of Kp interactions at 2.89 GeVc. We find a branching ratio R=(1)(2)=1.11±0.18, where (1) is entirely ηρ0γ. A matrix-element analysis yields JP(η)=0,2 as acceptable values for both samples. Production-decay angular correlations suggest that a JP=2 assignment is unlikely.
