Abstract

The assumptions of current algebra and partial conservation of axial-vector current are reformulated in the idealized dual-resonance model as assumptions about the flow of quantum numbers on the two-dimensional world sheet. The usual current-algebra results are recovered as projections of the two-dimensional current algebra into the four-dimensional world. Throughout we use the Kraemmer-Nielsen-Susskind interpretation of the world sheet.
