Abstract

We have measured the inclusive D*± production cross secton in a two-photon collision at the KEK e+e collider TRISTAN. The mean √s of the collider was 57.16 GeV and the integrated luminosity was 150 pb1. The differential cross section [dσ(D*±)/dPT] was obtained in the PT range between 1.6 and 6.6 GeV and compared with theoretical predictions, such as those involving direct and resolved photon processes.

The symmetric lund fragmentation function with σq=0.42, a=0.9, and b=0.61 without parton shower option was used. These parameters were fitted with single γ annihilation hadronic events, as described in I. Adachi et al., Phys. Lett. B 227, 495 (1989). These parametrizations also reproduce the charm meson fragmentation function at lower energies.
