Abstract

A simple form of a two-channel nonlocal separable potential which includes a tensor term is adjusted to fit the ΛN scattering lengths and effective ranges given by a specific mesontheoretic potential for various combinations of ΣN channel and tensor force suppression. For Yamaguchi potential shapes it is shown that such a fit may be obtained only for severely restricted values of the ΛN-channel range parameters. The further requirement of the existence of a resonance which is not due to a bound state in the uncoupled ΣN channel could only be met for some of the fits so obtained.
