Constraints on supersymmetric particles from the CERN LEP data on decay properties

Abstract
We show that the recent measurements of the total width and the peak hadronic cross section at CERN LEP lead to, with very mild assumptions, the bounds GeV, GeV, and GeV. For the minimal supersymmetric model, we are able to derive the additional bounds GeV, GeV on the mass of the lighter chargino and third lightest neutralino, respectively, while the bound on is strengthened to 39 GeV. Finally, some improved strategies for searches of new physics using the peak cross section are commented on.
