Abstract

The theory of the order-α radiative correction to the β decay of baryons is briefly reviewed. An effective procedure for the calculation of the real-photonic part of the order-α correction is outlined. Numerical results are tabulated for the radiative corrections to the branching ratio, the electron-antineutrino correlation parameter, the electron-energy (Ee) spectrum, the final-baryon-energy (Ef) spectrum, and the electron-antineutrino angular-correlation (Ee) distribution, and to the (Ef, Ef) and the (Ee, cosθeν) two-variable distributions in the cases of the decays Σneν¯, ΣΛeν¯, ΞΛeν¯, and Λpeν¯.
