Abstract

The strong CP problem is solved in certain models by assuming that CP is broken spontaneously at large scales and that the quark mass matrix is real at the tree level. These models abandon the Kobayashi-Maskawa mechanism and the CP violation in the kaon system must be explained by a superweak or milliweak force mediated by colored scalar bosons. These models come in three types: superweak models, milliweak leptoquark models, and milliweak diquark models. The consequences of |εε|=(3.3=1.1)×103 for each type is examined as well as the CP phenomenology of the B0B¯0 systems.
