Symmetry breaking by Wilson loops. Finite-temperature effects

Abstract

We analyze SU(5) gauge theory at finite temperature on space-times of the form openR×S3/Γ and find that, as the temperature is increased, the symmetry is progressively restored from the broken one found earlier. Some latent heats are evaluated and high-temperature forms are derived.
