Abstract

We have studied the production and corresponding decay signatures of flavor-changing neutral gauge bosons which can arise when E6 breaks to give a new low-energy gauge group SU(2)I at e+e and hadron colliders. The non-Hermitian gauge bosons (WI) in this group couple conventional fermions (e.g., e,dc) to their exotic partners (E,hc) in the 27 representation of E6. The dominant mechanism for WI production in hadron-hadron collisions at the parton level is found to be g+d→WI+h, which leads to a substantial cross section at both the Superconducting Super Collider and the CERN Large Hadron Collider as well as distinct decay signatures. Pair production of WI at high-energy e+e colliders is found to be sensitive to detailed cancellations between the different amplitudes. Sizable production cross sections of order 1 pb are obtained.
