Abstract
Variational description of the chiral-symmetry breaking in QCD is generalized to the case of finite baryonic density, at zero temperature. A modified trial state is used which allows us to perform the whole analysis directly in the sector of Hilbert space with a finite baryonic background. Our results indicate that chiral symmetry is restored for a finite density of baryons, presumably in the first-order phase transition.
