Calculation of the width of the decay ψ→ψη

Abstract

The width of the transition ψ→ψη in the charmonium system is calculated in a potential-model approach. A two-stage process is assumed in which the intermediate states are charmed mesons which in turn couple to ψη via a quark-exchange process. A width of 1.6 keV is obtained.
