Abstract

We present an Abelian model for mesons based on the interaction of a charged Nambu string with a U(1) gauge field. The concept of effective quarks is introduced and the model leads to the semi- relativistic equation [(p2+m12)1/2+(p2 +m22)1/2+ar-b/r]ψ(r→ )=Eψ(r→) to describe mesons.
