Abstract

The effects of light (≲3 GeV) gluinos on the formation of a quark-gluon plasma in relativistic nucleus-nucleus collisions are examined. Very light (∼100 MeV) gluinos can significantly lower the temperature of the plasma and weaken many of the signals usually put forward as indicators of the plasma’s formation or properties (i.e., low-energy photons, low-mass lepton pairs, and strange- and charm-particle production).
