Abstract
We investigate several meson-exchange potentials the parameters of which are fixed to describe nucleon-nucleon phase shifts, and we find some variations in their predictions of NN¯ observables which should not be present, as we discuss. We find that most data can be roughly reproduced with only one or two free parameters in very simple annihilation models.

- We find that at one energy (app1950 MeV for the Nijmegen OBEP and which is cutoff dependent) we have a sudden adsorption in the " P" , I=0 channel. This undesirable feature of the black-sphere annihilation model is due to our WKB evaluation of the wave number at the annihilation boundary and gives a strong bump in the total cross sections at this energy similar to what is found by Ball and Chew as reviewed by Phillips (Ref. 1). No such behavior was observed with the two other meson-exchange models in the energy range studied here. A more refined determination of the wave number including tunneling will correct this.
