Exotic Exchanges and Serpukhov Cross Sections

Abstract
A high-lying exotic trajectory , coupled singly to nucleons and in pairs to pions and kaons, is proposed to explain the energy dependence of total and differential cross sections in the 60-GeV region while retaining a fixed-pole Pomeranchukon. Loop diagrams (cuts) including 's are suggested as the agents reconciling pole duality (and exchange degeneracy) with experimental data on line-reversed pairs of two-body reaction cross sections and on polarizations which would vanish at high energies in the hybrid model with exchange degeneracy. A characteristic prediction of the proposed scheme is the presence of antishrinkage between 25 and 65 GeV in pion-nucleon elastic scattering near the forward direction.
