Abstract

Polarized-hyperon β decay is considered in the center-of-mass frame of the outgoing leptons. Simple and exact expressions are obtained for the differential intensity distribution function under the assumption of local current-current interaction and two-component neutrinos. It is shown that by exploiting only the fully integrated data, it is possible to make a large number of tests on the structure of the ΔS=1 current even with somewhat limited statistics. These include direct tests on the locality and VA nature of the interaction without additional assumptions, as well as detailed and rather stringent tests on the Cabibbo theory.
