Abstract

We investigate the implications of soft-gluon-emission effects on the angular distributions for dileptons arising from decays of a virtual photon and the Z0 boson produced in p¯p collision at large mass M and finite transverse momentum QT of dileptons in the range ΛQTM. Numerical evaluation of the differential cross section dσdMdyQT2 and the parity-violating coefficient ξ(QT, M) in the angular distributions is carried out for p¯p collision at s=540 GeV and y=0 in the small-QT limit in the Gottfried-Jackson reference frame, using two types of the QCD quark form factor: Sudakov type and Rakow-Webber type. The results are also compared with the lowest O(αs) perturbative calculation. We point out that the soft-gluon-emission effects in the coefficient ξ(QT, M) are deeply related to the derivative by QT2 of the scale-violation effects in the parton distributions.
