Transverse-momentum distributions of massive lepton pairs produced in hadronic collisions

Abstract

We study the transverse-momentum distributions of lepton pairs produced in hadronic collisions, in the framework of the massive-quark model. Its expectations are compared with the available experimental data at energies of Fermilab and CERN SPS. We find that our results are in fairly good agreement with the data for p and π− induced reactions. Predictions for p¯p collisions and comparison with QCD are also given.
