Energy loss by slow magnetic monopoles traversing a metal

Abstract
A simple calculation of the stopping power of a metal is given for the case of magnetic monopoles whose velocity is small compared with the Fermi velocity. The principal result is that the dominant contribution to the stopping power is the formation of low-energy electron-hole pairs. The stopping power is found to be proportional to and for Al with , GeV/cm.
